Document Manager

The Document Manager summarizes your document; each row represents one page. Columns provide status and statistical information, with document totals. Drag column dividers in the title bar to adjust the width of columns. Define columns for display, their widths and order in the Customize Columns dialog box from the View menu. An icon shows page status: acquired, recognized, proofed, edited, saved. Move the cursor onto an icon for a thumbnail page image. Click a row to open its page. Move pages by drag and drop. Select multiple pages with Shift+clicks or Ctrl+clicks for deletion, moving or re-recognition. Enter searchable keywords in the Note column.

Status icons

The Page column displays a status icon and a page number. The Status column contains the page status displayed in words:

Omnipage icon acquired Document Manager

Acquired: The page image has been acquired, either from scanner or image file. It may have zones placed manually or from a template. The page has not yet been recognized.

Recognized: The page has been recognized, recognition results have been placed in the Text Editor. The page has not been proofread, or proofreading was cancelled before the end of the page was reached.

Recognized, proofed: This page has been recognized and proofing has reached the end of the page.

Modified: This page has been recognized and the text has been edited or formatting has been changed.

Saved:  This page has already been saved.

Omnipage icon pending Document Manager

Pending: This page has stored unprocessed zoning changes. When these changes are processed, the page status returns to its previous value.

The current page is shown with an Omnipage icon eye Document Manager icon.

Hover the cursor over the status icon to view a miniature image of the page.

The other columns present statistical and information data: the number of characters and words recognized on the page, the number of reject characters and suspect words, the accuracy percentage, the acquisition and recognition time, the reading speed, the image resolution, size and type. Document totals are given for columns where this is meaningful.

There is a separate column for notes where you can enter searchable keywords or comments. Click the Note cell to enter a short text. Choose Edit Note… from the shortcut menu to enter longer texts. Use keywords in the Go to Page dialog box (Edit menu) to find pages quickly.

You can define which columns of information you want to see in the Document Manager. Choose Customize Columns… in the View menu for the Customize Columns dialog box. You can also specify the width and order of the columns. For information on this, and what each column offers, click here.

Page operations

The row of the current page is indicated by the Omnipage icon eye Document Manager“eye” icon. If you make a selection, all selected pages are highlighted. Here is how to perform page operations:

Jump to a page:

Click the leftmost icon area of the desired page or double-click anywhere in the page row. Its image will appear in the Page Image panel and recognition results (if any) will appear in the Text Editor.

Move a page:

Click the row of a page you want to move and drag it to the desired location.

The Omnipage icon page move Document Managericon shows where the page will be inserted.

Delete a page:

Select the row of the page you want to delete and press the Delete key. Be sure no other pages are selected, then confirm your request.

Select multiple pages:

Hold down the Shift key and click two page rows to select all pages between and including them. Hold down the Ctrl key as you click rows to add non-neighboring pages one-by-one. All selected pages are highlighted. When you make a multiple selection, the page set as current does not change.

Move multiple pages:

Make the selection, then drag the cursor to the desired location and release the mouse button.

Delete multiple pages:

Make the selection, then press the Delete key. Confirm your request.

Document Manager
