Scanner troubleshooting

Try these solutions if you experience a problem between OmniPage and your scanner or if you receive a scanner error message when you launch OmniPage.

  • Make sure your scanner is turned on, connected securely, correctly installed, and not being used by another application.

  • Ensure your scanner is compatible with your system and runs with the software provided by the manufacturer before you use it with OmniPage. Some scanners must be turned on before the computer is turned on for their drivers to load correctly. Try doing this.

  • Make sure OmniPage supports the scanner with your version of Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. Make sure you have the most recent scanner drivers for your scanner and your version of Windows. Check your scanner manufacturer’s website for this information.

  • Scanner information is also provided in Nuance’s website. It includes a Scanner Guide containing up-dated information about supported scanners and related issues. Nuance does in-depth testing of the 25 most widespread scanner models.

  • If you have access to more than one scanner, open the Scanner Wizard to check that the correct one is selected as the default.

  • Open the Scanner Setup Wizard from the Windows Start menu to test your scanner. See Setting up your scanner for more information.

  • Scanner drivers are not supplied with OmniPage. Your scanner must be installed with its own driver before you can set it up to work with OmniPage.
