Borders and Shading dialog box

This topic applies to the Borders and Shading, and the Fill Text Appearance dialog boxes.

To display the Borders and Shading dialog box choose the appropriate shortcut menu item in the Text Editor: Frame…, Table… or Text Box.

To display the Fill Text Appearance dialog box choose the Form Object Appearance shortcut menu item in  the Text Editor. The Fill Text Appearance dialog box has three panels: Borders, Shading and Shadow.

The contents of the Apply to selection box always depends on the bordered item (text, table, graphics or form).

Borders panel
 

Setting

None: Click here to remove all borders from the defined cell(s), table or bordered item. These are defined by the selection in the Text Editor and the setting Apply to.

Box: Click here to apply the currently selected line settings to the four outer edges of the defined cell(s), table or bordered item.

All: Click here to apply the currently selected line settings to all borders surrounding and inside the defined cell(s) or table. Not available for non-table borders.

Custom: Click here to apply new line settings to your choice of borders around or inside the defined cell(s), table or bordered item. Select your line settings, then click borders in the preview model (or use the preview buttons) to define where to have the new settings applied.

Style: Click the line style you want for the defined borders. To change an individual border line to a new style, color or width, first click Custom, select the Style, Color and Width settings you want and then click the border buttons in the preview diagram to apply the new settings.

Color: Click the line color you want for the defined borders. To change an individual border line to a new style, color or width, first click Custom, select the Style, Color and Width settings you want and then click the border buttons in the preview diagram to apply the new settings.

Width: Click the line width you want for the defined borders. To change an individual border line to a new style, color or width, first click Custom, select the Style, Color and Width settings you want and then click the border buttons in the preview diagram to apply the new settings.

Preview: Click the sides of this model or click the border buttons to add or remove the currently selected line settings. When you are formatting a table, the settings are applied to cells (current or selected) or to the whole table, as defined in Apply to.

Omnipage border top Borders and Shading dialog box Click this to add or remove the top border of the defined cell(s), table or bordered item. The border is added using the currently selected line settings. Clicking the left border in the model performs the same function.

Omnipage border bottom Borders and Shading dialog box Click this to add or remove the bottom border of the defined cell(s), table or bordered item. The border is added using the currently selected line settings. Clicking the bottom border in the model performs the same function.

Omnipage border left Borders and Shading dialog box Click this to add or remove the left border of the defined cell(s), table or bordered item. The border is added using the currently selected line settings. Clicking the left border in the model performs the same function.

Omnipage border right Borders and Shading dialog box Click this to add or remove the right border of the defined cell(s), table or bordered item. The border is added using the currently selected line settings. Clicking the right border in the model performs the same function.

Omnipage border horizontal Borders and Shading dialog box Click this to add or remove the internal horizontal borders of the defined cells or table. The borders are added using the currently selected line settings. Clicking the middle horizontal line in the model performs the same function. This is available only with tables with more than one row selected.

Omnipage border vertical Borders and Shading dialog box Click this to add or remove the internal vertical borders of the defined cells or table. The borders are added using the currently selected line settings. Clicking the center vertical line in the model performs the same function. This is available only for tables with more than one column selected.

Rounded: Select this if you want the selected form object border to have rounded corners. Type in a rounding value or use the arrow keys.

Apply to: Select the item (cell, table or frame) you want a border format apply to. When you are applying border and background styles to a table, choose whether the settings should apply to selected cells only or to the whole table.

 

Shading panel

Background Color: Select the background color you want for the selected cells, table or bordered item. Automatic is a color defined in your system’s display properties.

Automatic: This panel displays the chosen color name.

More Colors: Click this to display the Color dialog box for defining customized colors.

Pattern: Select a pattern from the list. Available only for form objects.

Pattern Color: Click this to select a pattern color. Click Custom if you want to define a color not provided. Available only for form objects.

Apply to: Select the item you want the selected background color apply to.

 

Shadow panel

This panel appears only for form objects in the Fill Text Appearance dialog box.

Location: Select a location for your shadow.

Offset: Type in a value or use the arrow keys. This offset value determines the distance between a form object and its shadow.
