Placing and modifying tabs
The Text Editor’s horizontal ruler lets you define and modify tab positions and change tab types easily by using the tab marker button . You can insert left type tabs in the marker’s default state.
Tab leaders can be selected only in the Tabs dialog box from the Format menu. In the Tabs dialog box you can also set and clear tabs and change tab alignment.
To place a new tab:

Check whether the tab marker displays the desired tab type. If not, click the button until the desired tab type appears.

Click to place a new left tab.
Click to place a new right tab.
Click to place a new center tab.
Click to place a new decimal tab.

Click at the desired position in the active part of the ruler.
To move a tab:

Drag the appropriate tab marker to the desired position.
To delete a tab:

Drag the tab marker below the ruler to delete a tab.
To change tab types:

Click the tab marker button until the desired tab type appears.
To change the tab leader value:

Choose Tabs from the Format menu.

Select a line style or None in the Tabs dialog box.
If you select one of the three line styles a dotted or solid tab leader line will be placed in the space of the tab jump. This is useful when preparing a table of contents.
