Scanning pages
You can scan paper documents to convert them to electronic images in OmniPage. If a document is already open, scanned pages are inserted as new pages at a location you define in the Process panel of the Options dialog box. By default, new pages are appended at the end of the document.
-
To scan in OmniPage, you must set up your scanner to work with the program. See Setting up your scanner for more information.
To scan pages into OmniPage:
-
Place your page in your scanner.
You can scan a stack of pages if you have an ADF.
-
Set Scan B&W, Scan Grayscale, or Scan Color as the command in the Get Page drop-down list.
-
Open the Scanner panel of the Options dialog box to make sure the appropriate settings are selected.
-
Select Prompt for more pages in the Scanner panel of the Options dialog box to scan multiple pages from a flatbed scanner without an ADF. Select it also if your document has more pages than your ADF can hold. See: Scanning with an ADF.
-
Select Look for facing pages in the Process panel to scan books two pages at a time.
-
If you have a flatbed scanner without an ADF and wish to use the Autoscan feature, select Automatically scan pages in the Scanner panel of the Options dialog box and enter the amount of time you want OmniPage to wait between scanning each page.
OmniPage will scan one page and then pause for the specified amount of time before scanning the next page. During this pause, place the next page you want to scan in your scanner. If necessary, a dialog box lets you decrease or increase the pause.
-
If you do not select Automatically scan pages or Prompt for more pages, you will need to click the Get Page button to scan each page of your multiple page document.
-
For automatic processing, click the Start button.
For step-by-step processing, click the Get Page button or choose Get Page / Scan B&W, Scan Grayscale, or Scan Color in the File menu.
Pages are scanned in order and combined into one working document.
-
For a step-by-step tutorial on scanning in and recognizing a single page, go to the Quick Start Guide.
-
You can assign OmniPage to one or more scanner buttons, so that images are loaded or scanning workflows run when the button is pressed. See Scanner panel.
